My stay in London: hotel review

Normaal gezien vertel ik jullie vooral over wat ik precies dóé tijdens mijn tripjes naar het buitenland. Ik heb het eigenlijk nooit over waar ik verblijf, met uitzondering van het verslag over mijn nacht in het Ibis Budget Hotel een aantal weekjes terug. Stiekem vind ik het echter wel erg leuk om te schrijven over de perfecte plaats om te verblijven wanneer je een bepaalde stad bezoekt. Ik was met name onder de indruk van mijn hotel in Londen een aantal weekjes terug: het Double Tree by Hilton Hotel aan de Tower of London!

ENGLISH: Usually I just tell you guys about what I dó on my trips abroad. I actually never really talk about where I stay, with exception of the report about my night in the Ibis Budget Hotel a couple of weeks ago. Secretly I really like it to write about the perfect place to stay when you visit a certain city. I was especially impressed of my hotel in London, when I was there with my dad a couple of weeks ago: the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, close to the Tower of London!

Ik heb wel vaker in een Double Tree by Hilton Hotel geslapen, maar dit keer was het plaatje écht compleet! Het begon al goed tijdens het inchecken: alle gasten krijgen namelijk bij ontvangst een heerlijk zelfgebakken koekje met chocola en noten, typerend voor de Double Tree hotels. Gelukkig is mijn vader - met wie ik in Londen was - niet zo'n cookie monster, dus kreeg ik er lekker twee... YUMMY!

Onze kamer was ook tip top in orde. Wat ik extra leuk vond is dat ze in plaats van de standaard Philips of LG tv, die je normaal gezien op vrijwel elke hotelkamer vindt, een reusachtige Apple iMac hadden voorzien. Hiermee konden we dus niet alleen televisie kijken, maar ook internetten! Dat vond ik wel echt een dikke plus, gezien het feit dat ik mijn laptop meestal niet meeneem voor een citytrip van twee dagen, maar het toch altijd wel erg comfortabel is om leuke restaurants en dergelijke op te kunnen zoeken op een groter scherm dan je smartphone. En mijn dagelijkse blog- en Facebookcheck uiteraard!

Een derde element wat ik erg wist te waarderen aan dit hotel was de hotelbar. Meestal zijn hotelbars niet veel bijzonders en vind ik het leuker om de "echte" stad te verkennen door gezellige, lokale barretjes te bezoeken, maar dit was toch wel een heel ander verhaal! De hotelbar bevond zich namelijk op het dak van het hotel, vergezeld door een fan-tas-tisch uitzicht op de Tower of Londen. (Te zien op bovenstaande foto.) WAUW! 

Al bij al was ik ontzettend tevreden over dit hotel, dus mocht ik binnenkort nog een keertje naar Londen ga hoef ik niet twee keer meer na te denken waar ik kan verblijven. Zijn jullie al eens in Londen geweest? Waar verbleven jullie toen?

ENGLISH: It wasn't my first time that I stayed in a Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, but this time the complete image was just perfect! It started already at the check-in: all guests receive one home made cookie with chocolate and nuts at the reception, typical for the Double Tree hotels. Luckily my father isn't such a cookie monster, so I ate them both... YUMMY!

Our room was also perfectly fine. What I especially liked was that instead of the standard Philips or LG flatscreen, that you normally find in almost every hotel room, an Apple iMac was installed in our room. With this device we could not only watch television, but also browse on the internet! I thought that was a big plus, especially because of the fact that I usually don't bring my laptop for a citytrip of two days. However, it's always nice when you can look up restaurants, bars and sightseeing spots on a bigger screen than your smartphone. And of course my daily blog and Facebook check!

One third element that I really appreciated about this hotel was the hotel bar. Usually hotel bars are not really something special, and I actually always prefer to go out of the hotel to discover the "real" city in a nice local bar. However, this was a completely different story! The hotel bar was located on the roof of the hotel, providing us with a fan-tas-tic view over the Tower of London. (You can see it on the picture above). WAUW!

All in all I was very satisfied with my stay in this hotel, so next time I plan on visiting Londen I won't have to think twice about where I could possibly stay. Have you guys ever been in Londen? Where did you stay?
